Hosts South Africa, Lesotho, and Namibia will also be looking to cause upsets and make their mark on the tournament.
This year’s format sees the 12 teams divided into four groups of three, with the top team from each group advancing to the semifinals, along with the best runner-up.
The semifinals will be followed by a third-place playoff and the final, both held on July 7 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
Some key players to watch include Zambia’s Albert Kangwanda, Zimbabwe’s Shane Maroodza, and South Africa’s Ethan Brooks.
Kenya’s U-23 squad, which includes overseas-based rising stars like Amos Wanjala and George Gitau, will also be one to watch.
