A heartbreaking incident occurred in Bulawayo , where 27-year-old Tichaona Moyo lost his life while scavenging for food at the Ngozi Mine dumpsite.
The dumpsite, located between Richmond and Cowdray Park, serves as the city’s primary waste disposal area and is home to approximately 400 households struggling with severe lack of essential services.
Moyo, who was known for engaging in waste picking to support himself, was reportedly collecting discarded materials when he tragically fell off a refuse truck and was struck by the vehicle. Eyewitnesses described the perilous conditions faced by waste pickers, who often navigate treacherous environments in their quest for survival resources.
