A 59-year-old man, Stephen Mutero, has been accused of attempting to rape his 17-year-old niece at their home in Zimre Park .
According to H-metro the alleged incident occurred on January 9, when Mutero visited the girl’s home and asked her to let him in.
After entering the house, Mutero reportedly followed the girl to the kitchen, then to a spare bedroom, where he allegedly fondled her and ordered her to touch him inappropriately.
The girl managed to escape and ran to another bedroom. Shortly after, her sister arrived, and Mutero gave each of the children $2 before leaving.

The incident came to light when the girl’s mother noticed her daughter’s distress and asked what was wrong. The girl revealed what had happened, leading to a police report and Mutero’s arrest.
Mutero appeared in court before Harare magistrate Tilda Mazhande, who granted him $200 bail.
He was not asked to plead. The case highlights concerns about child safety and the importance of reporting suspicious behavior.
