From the onset, Agama FC set the pace, dazzling with intricate passes that left their opponents bewildered and trailing.
The home team’s relentless pressure paid off in the 18th minute when Innocent ‘Chabwino’ Mwisa broke through MWOS FC’s defense to score a beautifully crafted goal.
This early lead galvanized Agama FC, propelling them to double their efforts.
Their persistence bore fruit when Malvern ‘Dholo’ Nyauyanga unleashed a spectacular 40-meter strike at the 32nd minute.
The ball rocketed into the back of the net, leaving the goalkeeper from MWOS FC helplessly watching.
This goal, a strong contender for “goal of the season,” was struck with precision and power, highlighting Nyauyanga’s formidable prowess on the field.
Leading 2-0 at halftime, Agama FC entered the second half with a more relaxed approach, perhaps too confident of their lead.
This complacency gave MWOS FC, coached by the strategic Lloyd Mutasa, a window to strike back.
They quickly capitalized, securing two rapid goals to level the score, intensifying the match’s suspense.
Just when the match seemed headed for a draw, Lincoln ‘Kalusha’ Saramaya found the net for Agama in the 63rd minute, tipping the scales once again in favor of the home team.
This decisive goal sealed the thrilling 3-2 victory for Agama FC, sparking wild celebrations among the local supporters.
After the match, an elated Agama FC coach; Patson Muzawazi praised his team’s resilience.
“Today was a testament to the spirit and heart of this team. We played with passion, and even when the game was tied, these lads believed and pushed for the win,” said Muzawazi.
He added, “We’re now gearing up for our next challenge against the joint log leaders Black Rhinos at Heart Stadium this coming Friday.”
With this victory, Agama FC sits seventh in the league standings, holding 26 points and trailing the leaders by just eight points.
The upset has sent ripples through the league, suggesting that Agama FC might just be a dark horse to watch as the season progresses.
