Breaking Stereotypes: All-Women Crack Squad Leaves a Mark with Successful Strikes

An exclusively female Criminal Investigation Department (CID) homicide team successfully tracked down and apprehended a serial killer who had been instilling terror among homeless individuals in Harare’s central business district (CBD).

The suspect, a 20-year-old individual, was believed to be responsible for the murders of five homeless people in the capital city and three others in Bulawayo.

The crack team managed to complete their mission within just eight hours of receiving the assignment.

The suspect, identified as Thandolwenkosi Ndlovu, made a brief court appearance on Tuesday, during which the State requested an extended detention warrant.

This extension was sought to permit the police to conduct further investigations, including the gathering of evidence and indications, before presenting the case in court. Ndlovu is scheduled to appear in court again today.

According to Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the police national spokesperson, the breakthrough in the case occurred on September 4, 2023, when police detectives tracked down the suspect on Rotten Row Road in Harare. The suspect had allegedly attempted to attack a homeless individual, commonly referred to as a ‘street kid,’ who had not reported the incident to the police.

It was revealed that the suspect, who appeared to be living on the streets, targeted these vulnerable individuals while they were asleep, using empty broken bottles to inflict fatal injuries and mutilate their bodies. Subsequently, he would proceed to cook or grill the removed body parts on an open fire within the Harare CBD, where he consumed them.

In a horrifying revelation, the State’s case indicated that Ndlovu would brutally crush his victims’ heads with large rocks, causing instant death.

Additionally, there were reports of Ndlovu being spotted holding a human heart near a certain building in the Harare CBD, which prompted shop owners to chase him away in fear and disgust.
