A 35-year-old man has been arrested in Midrand, Gauteng for possession, accessing and distribution of child s*x tapes.
At last week’s takedown operation, the South African Police Service (SAPS) apprehended the 35-year-old suspect.
When police raided his Midrand residence, they found electronic devices containing about 10 million photographs and films of child s*xual abuse.
A sum of money that was thought to be the result of criminal activity was also found.

During the previous two years, law enforcement agencies around the country have been actively investigating and apprehending individuals suspected of child s*x tapes-related offences.
Separately, in December 2024, a man from Vanderbijlpark and a former Pretoria school administrator were apprehended in operations like this.
Among the many accusations levelled against the suspect are possession and distribution of child s*x tapes, drug possession, and fraud.
“The arrest stems from information that was shared by international law enforcement with the saps after they have identified a target located in South Africa,” declared Amanda van Wyk, a police spokesperson. The suspect is hosting and distributing child s*x tapes on a global scale for financial advantage, according to further investigation by the teams.
Until further notice, he is being held in jail
