Applications Open for 2024 Dorcas Muthoni PhD Fellowship in Canada
The Dorcas Muthoni PhD Fellowship, in collaboration with One Young World, invites applications for 15 scholarships for young African female leaders driving change in climate-related fields. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the fellowship aims to contribute to quality education and gender equality, focusing on African women.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Aged 18–30.
- African nationality.
- Demonstrated commitment to positive change and strong leadership capacity.
- Understanding of key local and/or global issues.
- Track record of impactful and innovative solutions.
- Engagement in addressing environmental challenges.
Benefits:
- Access to the One Young World Summit 2024 in Montreal, Canada.
- Hotel accommodation in Montreal (18–21 September 2024).
- Participation in a pre-event hosted by Audi AG and the Audi Environmental Foundation on 17 September 2024.
- Economy flights to and from Montreal.
- Catering (breakfast, lunch, and dinner).
- Transport between the Summit accommodation and venue.
Objectives:
- Promote gender equality and reduce the gender gap in ICT.
- Share research with African female researchers during their PhD studies.
- Contribute to future social impact in African countries by having applicants return to their home countries post-PhD.
Research Areas: ICT Research Areas include Cognition, Computation, Robotics, AI, Theoretical Computer Science, Natural Language Processing, Ubiquitous Computing, and more.
Financial Support:
- Predoctoral contract with a monthly salary.
- Teaching assistance load of 45 hours per academic year.
- Startup/Landing Fund of €2500.
Application Period:
- Deadline: 2nd May 2024 (23:59 CET).
- Fellowship Resolution: 4th July 2024.
- Contracts expected to start in October–November 2024.
