The Bundutec Defender Trophy which will be held jointly by the Mapungubwe Transfrontier Conversation Area from 24-28 September 2019 which is housed by Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa is being co-hosted by Beitbridge Town.
Different from the usual 4×4 car racing, this competition mainly focuses on earning points through answering correct questions on the local flora and fauna, culture and history of the participating areas
Zimbabwe Tourism Authority head of corporate affairs Godfrey Koti said, “As the tourism sector, we are delighted to be part of this huge competition. Active participation in sporting activities such as the Defender Trophy is one of many ways in which people choose to experience places and people as part of tourism practices.
“We are one of the few African countries working to open up more opportunities for international travel and we are very excited by the endorsement we have received so far by being conferred with international awards.We do hope that the international participants of the Defender Trophy will also contribute through telling a Zimbabwean story when they return to their countries.“
Participants will be following a selected route, the itinerary is as follows:
Day 1: Depart Ratho for Poacher’s House. Day 2: Cross Limpopo to Zimbabwe, through Maramani, Tuli Circle Safari Safari Day 3: Visit broken positively bridge, drive to Mabolwe enroute to Botswana Day 4: Drive out to Solomon’s Wall
