A young man from Masvingo Province’s Bikita District says he has terrible stomach aches that are supposedly brought on by “runyoka,” or juju, often known as black magic.
Nelson Matupire, the man, informed TellZim News that he has since moved and is staying at the woman’s house, stating he won’t go unless her husband purifies him.
Matupire appealed to well-wishers who could assist him or suggest a resource because he had been in agony for the past twelve months. He declared:
After she and her husband split up, I met the woman in Beitbridge, and we had an intimate relationship. That’s when I started having issues.
I feel like there are little insects that emerge from my privates, resembling hurukuru (the buffalo bean), then fly away, leaving behind irritating substances called uriri or unye.

I discovered that I had slept with a lady who was locked (akaiswa runyoka/Rukawo) when I attempted to investigate the issue.
They had made up when I went to approach them, so they both fled, and I battled with them for a very long period. When we went to see religion healers, they told me that the woman’s husband was the cause of my illness, although he disputes this.
The woman was informed that the charm that was placed on her was the reason she was becoming ill, and she is currently experiencing stomach pains. I’m currently staying at her house, but the husband is still untrustworthy.
Matupire made the decision to stay at the woman’s place because he was told the pain would worsen if he went back to his house. He added:
I have been in and out of police custody as I often clash with the family.
Magadzire Village head Isaiah Zirumbwa Magadzire, where the woman comes from, confirmed the incident to TellZim News.

He claimed that although they were making an effort to help Matupire, the main obstacle was that the supposed offender was nowhere to be seen. The traditional leader said:
After she and her husband split up, the young man went to Beitbridge and met this married woman. After the two had sexual relations, the man began to have stomach problems and claimed to feel like worms were traveling up and down his stomach.
The man suffered till he came here to meet the woman’s husband, but after the incident, the woman’s husband followed up with her and they were reunited.
The problem at hand is that the alleged offender vanished after denying using any kind of locking system (juju).
So, in order to step in and ensure that the man stayed, we called the police for assistance.
Currently, they are sharing a room while Matupire sleeps in a different one. He used to sleep outside in the past. We cautioned them against getting too close because that could make things worse.
Zirumbwa also made a plea to anyone who could assist the young man, who was in great suffering.
Runyoka is a traditional African ritual in which a married person is “bound” to their partner, rendering it impossible for them to have sex with anyone else without incurring bad luck, through the use of magical charms or spells, usually cast by a traditional healer or witchdoctor.
It is thought that the unfaithful spouse will suffer injury or disaster from the enchantment, such as a serious illness, paralysis, or even death.
