Khama Billiat has dismissed widespread social media rumors suggesting he received a US$45,000 signing fee to join Scottland FC.
The former Yadah star was officially introduced as a Scottland player on New Year’s Day, marking the club’s intensified efforts to assemble a competitive squad capable of securing a top-four finish in the upcoming season.
Scottland has reportedly secured a sponsorship package of US$2.5 million for the 2025 campaign, courtesy of Sakunda Holdings and IMC Communications. This financial backing currently positions them as one of the Premiership’s most well-supported teams.
Social media reports had claimed Billiat received US$45,000 in cash as part of his one-year contract deal. However, the player has categorically denied these claims, describing them as baseless and exaggerated.
Speaking to the Zimpapers Sports Hub, Billiat clarified his stance, emphasizing the potential risks associated with such misinformation.
“I cannot disclose the specifics of my contract, but I can confirm that the US$45,000 figure being shared is completely untrue. My deal does not involve anything close to that amount,” Billiat stated. “These false reports are not only misleading but dangerous. Such claims create unnecessary attention and put my personal safety at risk, as people may mistakenly believe I possess that kind of money.”

Scottland FC, meanwhile, continues to bolster its squad with high-profile signings, including reigning Castle Lager Soccer Star of the Year Walter Musona and first runner-up Lynoth Chikuhwa, who also claimed the top-scorer accolade. Kingsley Mureremba, a former CAPS United midfielder, has already been unveiled, and reports suggest Soccer Star of the Year finalists Tymon Machope (Simba Bhora) and Godknows Murwira (CAPS United) are also on the club’s radar.
With these acquisitions, Scottland now boasts six of the 2024 Castle Lager Soccer Stars of the Year, further solidifying their ambition. Additionally, reigning Coach of the Year, Tonderai Ndiraya, is expected to finalize his move from Simba Bhora to lead the team.
Billiat acknowledged the excitement surrounding Scottland’s squad development but stressed the importance of accurate reporting, especially when it comes to financial matters.
“There is a lot of interest in what Scottland is building, but it’s irresponsible to spread false information that could cause discord or put me at risk,” he said. “It’s disappointing that some individuals feel the need to fabricate such figures without considering the impact.”
Before joining Scottland, Billiat expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prophet Walter Magaya, Yadah Football Club, and its supporters for their encouragement and faith during his time with the club—a period when his playing career seemed uncertain. Khama Billiat
