Despite the bitter cold of winter, the Carpe Diem DJ show at the Old Hararians Sports Club was an incredible night of electrifying performances that far exceeded expectations and broke attendance records. With picnic blankets, cooler boxes, and even charcoal heaters in hand, revelers braved the cold on June 15th to swarm the outdoor venue for an evening of dancing and music.
A captivating performance by Sun-El-Musician, Oscar Mbo and  the vivacious DJ Moorda brought the evening to its pinnacle. Moorda’s performance enthralled the crowd from beginning to end, fusing exciting dancing moves with skillful mixing to create a visual spectacle that complemented the music.
The crowd erupted in cheers as Moorda’s performance left them amazed. Unfortunately his act was cut short to allow Bulawayo’s Ryan Synth, who mixed well-known Amapiano songs with local hits to keep the party rocking, to take over.
Despite Moorda’s high standard, Synth met the challenge of keeping the audience engaged and dancing with smooth transitions and upbeat selections. Even though Moorda’s performance received the most attention, Synth’s set was also a highlight of the evening in a different way.
Not all acts were as successful at connecting with the audience. Despite the fact that Prince Kaybee’s set included familiar and crowd-pleasing hits such as the rhumba classics by Kofi Olomide, he struggled to maintain the high energy established by previous performers.
In contrast, the Chiweddar brothers, Daniel and David, gave a captivating performance. They created a one-of-a-kind and immersive musical experience by beginning their set with Daniel demonstrating his skills on the keytar and David selecting beats. Their seamless transition and energetic performance brought the party to a climax, but the momentum dipped slightly during Prince Kaybee’s subsequent set.
Ralph Magowa was among the attendees, and he expressed his enthusiasm for the event. “It is the best event I have attended thus far. Hopefully, Jacaranda Music will make this an annual event because sometimes we just need to unwind and listen to a variety of music rather than just attending live music shows,” he explained.
The event ran smoothly thanks to meticulous management by organizer Walter Wanyanya, Tariro Chaniwa, and their team. Their efficient handling of the event’s logistics smoothed out any potential hiccups, contributing to the evening’s success.
Despite the cold, the atmosphere was electric, with some partygoers taking off their t-shirts in the heat of the moment. The presence of notable figures in the crowd, such as Gemma, with whom Prince Kaybee announced on X that they had collaborated on a song called ‘Go Slow’, added a touch of glamour to the event.
The Carpe Diem DJ show at the Old Hararians Sports Club will be remembered as a night of perfect harmony between music, performances, and the audience, making it one of the year’s most memorable events. “Carpe Diem” is more than a phrase; it’s a manifesto for living life to the fullest, and on June 15th, this mantra came to life through an unforgettable experience.
