With a commanding 70-run victory over Kenya, the Chevrons have secured a spot in the African Games cricket final, edging closer to the coveted gold medal.
Their opponents in the final showdown will be Namibia.
A triumph for the Chevrons would mark a remarkable double at the Africa Games cricket tournaments, following the Lady Chevrons’ gold in the women’s competition.

Kenya’s pursuit yesterday was limited to 126 runs, falling short of the 197-run target set by Zimbabwe.
Owen Muzondo spearheaded the Zimbabwe bowling attack, claiming four wickets for just 18 runs in his allotted four overs, with three wickets in the crucial 13th over.
Kudakwashe Macheka also made significant contributions, taking three wickets, while Wallace Mubaiwa, Tashinga Musekiwa, and Jonathan Campell each clinched a wicket.
Winning the toss, the Chevrons opted to bat first, setting a competitive target of 197 runs.
Although the innings had a sluggish start, with 35 runs for the loss of two wickets within the power play, the Chevrons staged a remarkable recovery to post 196-5 in 20 overs.
Musekiwa’s explosive 39 runs off 10 balls, alongside Campell and captain Clive Madande’s contributions of 42 and 41 runs, respectively, bolstered Zimbabwe’s score, with Brian Bennet adding 27 runs off 29 balls.
Despite Kenya’s strong start in the chase, reaching 53-1 in the initial six overs, the Chevrons regrouped and ultimately sealed a resounding victory.
Namibia has previously bested a Chevrons side featuring key players on multiple occasions, including in the qualifiers for the ICC World T20 showcase in the United States.
However, these Chevrons, predominantly comprising players have displayed unwavering determination to claim victory and now stand on the brink of clinching the gold medal.
