A ruthless gang of four men has left the Chipinge community speechless after they kidnapped, assaulted, and extorted their victim.
The NPA said the quartet committed the violent attack on Patrick Mthetwa Gwariyanda on 11 March 2025.
The gang purported to be police officers.
Two members of the gang (Solomon Murire (21) and Tendai Nyamadzawo Munyire (24) were nabbed by the police and were brought before the courts and convicted of the violent attack.
Two other members of the gang, Eric Murire and Allen Nzenga Ndomduma are still at large.
“Along with other four other accomplices (two convicted, two still at large), they posed as police officers.

“They assaulted Gwariyanda with various weapons, damaged property worth USD 50, kidnapped him and extorted USD 100 for his release,” said NPA.
Appearing before a Chipinge Magistrates Court sentenced the duo to two years (partially suspended) for assault, five years (partially suspended) plus USD 20 restitution by 27 August 2025.
“On kidnapping and extortion were partly suspended on good behaviour.”
