Harare, Zimbabwe – 2023 was a year of significant growth and innovation for Cimas Health Group. Chief Executive Officer Mr Vuli Ndlovu shared these developments during the 79th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Borrowdale Office Park in Harare.
He emphasized the Group’s commitment to improving healthcare access and service delivery in Zimbabwe.
In 2023, Cimas Health Group expanded from primary care to include tertiary care, adding nine new units in various cities. These include:
- Borrowdale Office Park Radiology
- Kwekwe Dental
- Highglen Dental
- Bulawayo Dental
- Mutare Dental
- 35 Fife Avenue Pharmacy
- Ruwa Clinic
- Ruwa Pharmacy
This expansion led to a 117% increase in revenue, reaching ZWL 180 billion. Dental attendances increased by 42% due to the new clinics, while retail pharmacy visits went up by 26% thanks to the new pharmacies and better product availability. However, Medlabs attendance fell by 16% due to co-payments and new competition.
In 2024, the new 16-bed 35 Fife Avenue Hospital opened, offering advanced facilities such as operating theatres, an intensive care unit, and a high dependency unit.
Mr Ndlovu announced the start of construction on the Van Praagh Medical Centre, which will be the Group’s flagship wellness centre. It will offer a variety of health and wellness services, aiming to improve capacity and patient turnaround times.

Cimas Medlabs invested in genomics sequencing, allowing for personalized healthcare based on genetic profiles, leading to more effective treatments with fewer side effects.
Cimas implemented Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and is exploring artificial intelligence for better efficiency. The Group also launched digital products like a USSD platform and a WhatsApp Chatbot. These tools help members check balances, get information, request cards, and register for Healthsave products easily and quickly.
Mr Ndlovu highlighted the importance of their renewed ISO 27001:2013 certification, ensuring the secure and confidential handling of personal and medical information.
Mr. Ndlovu reiterated Cimas Health Group’s dedication to advancing medical knowledge, improving patient outcomes, and enhancing service delivery through continuous investment in new technologies and infrastructure. The achievements in 2023 set a strong foundation for future growth, keeping Cimas at the forefront of healthcare in Zimbabwe.
