The Cimas Health Group has officially begun the second edition of its Healthathon 2.0 competition, which aims to promote healthcare innovation.
The news was shared at a press conference on October 17, 2024, at which Cimas Health Group CEO Mr. Vuli Ndlovu addressed the media and other stakeholders at his Borrowdale offices in Harare.
The Healthathon 2.0, themed “Transforming Healthcare: Pioneering Tomorrow’s Health Solutions,” will bring together students, experts, and innovators to develop creative solutions to the healthcare industry’s most pressing concerns.

The event exemplifies Cimas’ dedication to using technology and collaboration to improve healthcare access and efficiency. “As a leading private medical aid society and healthcare service provider, we are excited to host this year’s Healthathon 2.0,” Mr. Ndlovu stated. “This event represents a strategic opportunity for participants to showcase their creativity, technical expertise, and problem-solving skills, fostering partnerships and driving practical solutions.”
The competition’s registration period, which began on October 14, will end on October 24. Shortlisting will take place from October 24 to 25, with an induction workshop scheduled for October 24.
The event will begin with a hacking phase on October 27 and culminate with a grand finale on November 1, 2024, at the Harare Institute of Technology (HIT). Participants will submit their proposals to a panel of industry professionals, and the best ideas will be acknowledged and awarded.
The overall winner will be awarded $1,500, with the second and third place winners receiving $1,000 and $750, respectively. The fourth and fifth-place winners will receive $500 and $400, respectively.
Mrs Tatenda Madzikanda and Cimas Chief Information Officer Foster Akaketa, were also present at the press briefing, highlighting the company’s commitment to providing high-quality healthcare solutions.
The Healthathon 2.0 competition demonstrates Cimas Health Group’s continuous commitment to promoting technological breakthroughs in the healthcare business, assuring a brighter future for healthcare services in Zimbabwe and beyond.
