City Parking Expands Capacity to Address Shortages, Promises Safe and Efficient Service
City Parking, the firm responsible for managing parking bays in Harare’s central business district (CBD), has announced plans to increase its holding capacity to address current space shortages.
The company aims to leverage stacked parking technology at various sites on the periphery of the CBD, including the Simon Muzenda Avenue parking lot and the newly constructed Rufaro Stadium parking lot.
According to Francis Mandaza, City Parking’s public relations officer, the expansion plan aims to increase capacity by building upwards using modern technology.
This move is expected to decongest the CBD and service the Mbare area.
The announcement comes amid outcry over high parking fines and allegations of unnecessary clamping by parking marshals.
Motorists have complained of being charged excessive penalty fees, with some claiming their vehicles were clamped without contravening parking regulations.
Mandaza assured motorists that City Parking has laid down operational guidelines to ensure efficiency and attentiveness among staff members.
He added that the company has a performance management framework in place to ensure sustainability and corrective action when necessary.
The expansion plan is expected to provide safe and efficient parking services to motorists, alleviating the current shortages and congestion in the CBD.
