Singapore’s Public Service Division (PSD) announced on November 25 that civil servants will receive a year-end bonus of 1.05 months’ salary. This follows the mid-year bonus of 0.45 months, bringing the total bonus for 2024 to 1.5 months, an increase from 0.9 months in 2023. Junior officers in grades MX15 and MX16, as well as those in the Operations Support Scheme, will receive an additional one-time payment of $600.
The bonus is a reflection of Singapore’s stronger-than-expected economic performance in the first three quarters of the year, with the GDP growth forecast for 2024 revised upwards to 3.5%. This is in line with the National Wages Council’s recommendation to increase wages for lower-income workers.

Public sector unions, including the Amalgamated Union of Public Employees, have supported the payout, emphasizing that civil servants’ contributions to the economy should be acknowledged. Additionally, the government will continue to pay the annual non-pensionable allowance (13th month bonus) to all public servants.
The additional bonus and one-time payment are aimed at helping civil servants, particularly junior officers, cope with rising living costs.
