Harare’s elite, from social media influencers to business trailblazers all gathered for an unforgettable evening under the stars at the much-anticipated launch of Coca-Cola’s “Share a Coke” campaign. It was exquisite brand activation, the event was a vibrant celebration of identity, connection, and community, all centered around one of the most personal things we have: our names.
From the moment guests arrived at Cresta Lodge, they were immersed in a world of red which is the signature color of Coca-Cola. The venue had been transformed into a glowing spectacle, with lights and décor that turned the outdoor space into an experiential wonderland. Attendees, dressed to impress in the event’s themed “Funky Red” attire, walked a red carpet that led them into the visually stunning “Memoire Tunnel”, a passage illuminated with LED screens flashing names and heartfelt memories. It was a powerful reminder of how something as simple as a name can evoke deep emotion and connection.
The entertainment kicked off with a high-energy performance by Lisa Unlimited and her dynamic dance crew. Their choreography and rhythm brought the crowd to life, showcasing Zimbabwean talent at its finest. The energy remained high as everyone enjoyed a mouthwatering barbecue dinner, prepared by chefs from Cresta Lodge, and sipped on ice-cold Coke beverages under the night sky.
The night reached a fever pitch with a thrilling performance by dancehall star Nutty O, who delivered fan-favorite hits like Makanonoka and Handipere Power. The audience sang along, danced, and soaked in the electric atmosphere, which was equal parts celebration and nostalgia.
Adding to the festive experience were interactive games like mini basketball and photo booths scattered around the venue, where guests snapped memories to take home. But the evening’s most defining moment came when Barry Otieno, Coca-Cola’s Senior Manager for Frontline Marketing, officially launched the Zimbabwean edition of the “Share a Coke” campaign.
Standing amidst a spectacular display of smoke and sparkles, Otieno delivered a message that struck a chord with all in attendance: “There is so much meaning to your name.” It was a simple yet powerful sentiment that perfectly captured the essence of the campaign which is a tribute to individuality and shared identity.
As the evening drew to a close, The Travellers Band took to the stage, serenading the crowd with timeless hits from the ’80s and ’90s. Their nostalgic set provided the perfect finale for a night that balanced innovation with tradition.
As guests departed, they carried branded Coke beverages and lasting memories, a renewed sense of community, and the reminder that a name on a bottle isn’t just a label, but a story worth sharing.
