Corporate Support Boosts Zimbabwean Artists

Swan Valley, a rapidly expanding cigarette brand, has demonstrated strong commitment to supporting Zimbabwean music, particularly Zim Dancehall. Known for its energetic beats and, the genre continues to attract the younger generation.

On Saturday, January 25, 2025, Rufaro Stadium was filled with excitement as Zimbabwe’s music scene celebrated an unforgettable night. Beyond the electrifying performances, the event was also about recognizing and rewarding talent in a significant way.

Alongside business leaders Ed Branson and John Paradza, Swan Valley Group pledged an impressive $15,000 to appreciate the artists who shared the stage with legends Winky D and Alick Macheso that night.

Yesterday, that promise was fulfilled as the musicians received their rewards, marking a major step in supporting local talent.

The award ceremony took place at Swan Valley’s headquarters in Msasa, where musicians were honored for their contributions.

Dressed in bold navy blue or red caps and t-shirts featuring Swan Valley’s logo, Fantan, Levels, Kinnah, Silent Killer, Hwinza, Sharks, and Khonangale received a ceremonial cheque from Ecobank representatives, highlighting the bank’s role in making this initiative possible.

Speaking on behalf of the artists, Hwinza expressed immense gratitude for the financial support. “This is a major boost for us. Financial challenges often hold us back, but this support from Swan Valley will help take our music to the next level,” he said.

To show their appreciation, the artists, starting with Kinnah took turns freestyling.

Victoria Ayisa, Swan Valley’s Head of Marketing, explained the company’s decision to invest in these musicians,”artists shape culture, and by supporting them, we help sustain our creative industry. This monetary gift is an investment in the future of Zimbabwean music.”

The artists have ambitious plans for the funds, aiming to enhance music production, create high-quality music videos, and expand their reach beyond Zimbabwe. Financial support of this scale is rare in the local music industry, making this a transformative moment for their careers.
