Lisa, the daughter of Madzibaba Ishmael, defended her father’s actions in establishing a religious cult community in Nyabira, adamantly refuting allegations of widespread abuse of women and children within the compound.
Standing outside the Norton Magistrate Court, where her father was facing legal proceedings, Lisa, recognized as a significant figure within the shrine, expressed her indignation, asserting that no abuse was taking place there.
According to her, the women and children in the community were receiving spiritual guidance, not suffering maltreatment.
Contrary to these claims, reports suggested that numerous children were being deprived of their right to education and proper healthcare, while women and young girls were purportedly enduring various forms of mistreatment.
In her defense, Lisa stated, “Yes, I received education up to O-Level, but it hasn’t significantly contributed to my well-being. I rely on my father for everything, and now his absence until March 19 is a setback for us.
He’s being penalized for his vision, but there’s no abuse happening at the farm; we are a unified, contented family.”
Reflecting on her own experience, Lisa revealed, “When the police intervened and relocated women and children for medical examinations in Chinhoyi, it felt like an intrusion. It left me feeling vulnerable.”
She boldly declared that rather than endure such indignities, they would seek to establish a separate community.
“If this nation cannot appreciate our ways of life and accuses us falsely, then we’ll seek refuge elsewhere. We refuse to be treated as second-class citizens in our own land,” she passionately asserted.
“Munyika macho matiri ndimo matava ku abuswa, ndokodzero dzangu here, tochidini?
“Kana musisatatide muno munyika tipei kumwe kwekunogara toziva hatisi macitizens emunyika muno, zvitori nani,” she said.
