Danai Gurira congratulates Wabvuta

Hollywood based Danai Gurira has congratulated thespian Gideon Jeph Wabvuta for winning the Walter Muparutsa Fellowship for Artistes of Excellence that has taken him to the United States of America to study the MFA writing program at the University of Southern California for the next three years.
Gurira told Showbiz from her Hollywood base that Wabvuta was “one of the keenest artistic minds” she had come across.
“Gideon has one of the keenest artistic minds I have come across. Working with him and investing in his talent has been a great joy for us here at Almasi. I am deeply excited for this young man’s future and the impact he will have on the world,” she said.
“It is with great pleasure that we at Almasi Arts award him the Almasi Walter Muparutsa Fellowship for Artists of Excellence. This fellowship will allow him the opportunity to attend University Of Southern California’s MFA writing program, a deeply competitive and world class institution. Congratulations Gideon, I know you will excel.”
Wabvuta who commenced classes Monday said he has always wanted to be a writer.
“I have always wanted to be a writer since I knew what writing was, and I always frustrated when I would fail to articulate certain storytelling aspects. This program is one of the best in the world and I’m sure it will make me proficient writer email will in turn feed into the growth of our own industry,” Wabvuta said.
Danai Gurira is arguably Zimbabwe’s most successful artiste who has featured in a series of high profile Hollywood productions among them Walking Dead where she played Michonne.
She is co-founder of Almasi Collaborative Arts with fellow Zimbabwean artiste Patience Gamu Tawengwa.
