Darlington Robert Matola, a committed level 3.1 student studying media and cultural studies at Great Zimabawe University and an active member of the Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU), is pushing for better practical learning conditions at the university.
This comes after renowned Lawyer Advocate Martin Mureri a human rights lawyer and Member of Parliament for Masvingo urban, successfully compelled Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) to stop demanding fees in United States Dollars (USD) from students.
In an exclusive interview with the publication , Darlington Robert Matola passionately said , “I want to express my sincere appreciation to Advocate Mureri for standing in solidarity with the students. The struggle for academic freedom is far from over.

The words ‘struggle’ and ‘over’ cannot be uttered in the same breath. We have a long way to go in our pursuit of excellence at Great Zimbabwe University and in Zimbabwe as a whole.” As a representative of the student body, Matola underscored the critical importance of the university administration addressing the students’ demands.
“As students, it is imperative that the administration meets our demands in terms of service delivery. We require food offerings that meet humane standards, access to proper medical facilities, and an enriching on-campus experience that warrants commendation, ” Matola said.
“I am committed to continuing the fight for our students.”
” Bringing attention to the need for enhanced focus on practical programs, particularly media studies and other hands-on courses,” Matola said
“We must ensure that our fees work in our favor. I will continue to fight for the rights of students, as there is still much work to be done,”He adds .
