Pioneering urban music superstar Donald Chirisa aka Sniper Storm celebrates his birthday this Saturday at upmarket club The Volt barely a fortnight after his death hoax.
False news of his death went viral on social media and his management scoffed at the rumour .
Sniper told Showbiz today that he has gotten over the death rumours and is looking forward to his birthday bash to be powered by Platinum Entertainment which is under the stewardship of Spencer ‘Boss Spencer’ Madziya.
“I am as fit as a fiddle and come see for yourselves at my birthday bash at the Volt this Saturday. I appreciate the gift of life,” said Sniper who is now in his late 30s.
He said fellow artistes Guspy Warrior,Legend Eli,D Flex and surprise acts will perform at the bash.
Entertainment will be provided by Judgment Yard, Big Dollar Bruce, DJ Cavvasy among others.
“News of my death came as a shock because I didn’t know that such word was going around until I started receiving calls and texts from fans, friends and relatives.
“It was a very busy three days replying texts and calls,” said Sniper.
He however said although he has a sense of humour ,the rumour ‘joke’ was in bad taste.
“Some jokes are not funny” he said.
Sniper made waves back in 2000 when he was part of Delani Makhalima and Gilbert Muvavarirwa ‘s The Future compilation .
He collaborated with David Chifunyise on hit song Tauya Naye.
He went on to release more hits like Kubhinya, Musikana Ane Tundebvu and Ndakabata Mic.
He has stood the test of time and still commands respect and relevance in the new school Zim Dancehall era where he still commands respect.
He is happily married and prefers to keep his love life a strongly guarded secret.
