Digitalise Zimbabwe ICT Roving Expo’s fith edition made a high impact arrival in Manicaland Province on the 27th and 28th June 2025, at the Mutare Showgrounds.

The Digitalize Zimbabwe outreach initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services in collaboration with its implementation partner, Video Promotions Africa, aims to bridge the digital divide and promote ICT inclusivity in alignment with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision of “leaving no one and no place behind” in the digital transformation agenda.

In her keynote address to a capacity audience, the Honourable Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, Tatenda Anastascia Mavetera, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building an ICT-literate society through continuous digital outreach themed Digitalize Zimbabwe ICT Roving Expos which adds value to digital infrastructure development.

The Ministry’s leadership team including Deputy Minister Dingimunzi Puthi, Permanent Secretary Beullah Chirume, Chief Director Prince Dube, and other senior government officials have been instrumental in executing the national digital roadmap, ensuring that the Digitalise Zimbabwe Roving Expo is successfully hosted in all ten provinces with the major focus on rural areas.

Misheck Mugadza, toured exhibition stands from key ICT stakeholders including Econet Wireless, Netone, Telecel, TelOne, as well as government departments, parastatals, local authorities, tertiary institutions, and community schools.

Major telecommunications providers used the platform to engage directly with end users and address persistent network latency, signal coverage gaps, and bandwidth limitations, especially in rural communities. Minister Mavetera held consultations with operators to expedite upgrades to network infrastructure in underserved areas across Manicaland.

Minister Mugadza emphasised the pivotal role of ICT in accelerating socio-economic development across sectors and praised the Expo’s timely arrival in the province.

In a gesture under the Presidential Internet Scheme, President Mnangagwa donated fifteen laptops, a digital projector, an interactive whiteboard, and a multifunction printer to Saint George’s Primary School in Mutare.

The equipment was handed over by Minister Mavetera as part of a broader initiative to prepare Zimbabwean learners for a digital first future.
