Renowned DJ Mo Flava recently engaged in a lively conversation with fellow industry figure DJ Fresh on the “Waw What A Week” podcast.
Mo Flava, whose real name is Moetie Tsiki and a host on 947, shared insights about the radio landscape and highlighted current standout personalities in the field. “It’s important to explore different stations; listening only to your own isn’t necessary.
We’re all part of one larger market. I enjoy tuning into various shows, and I once mentioned to Clement Manyathela on 702 that I would miss his show because it aired simultaneously with mine,” he noted.
DJ Fresh chimed in, confessing his fondness for talk shows and his dedication to not missing Manyathela’s broadcast.
Describing his listening routine, Mo Flava said, “On my way to work, I often catch ‘Anele and the Club,’ which I find fantastic. If I want to hear what Sizwe Dhlomo and Sol Phenduka are discussing, I switch to their show.
For current news, I tune into Bongani Bingwa, and I also enjoy Relebogile Mabotja on 702. My afternoon listening varies based on my mood.”
The duo also agreed that John Perlman, who hosts the afternoon segment on 702, is excelling in his coverage of current events.
“Despite his experience, he still brings a vibrant energy. His ability to connect with a wide audience is impressive, and it keeps me informed about the day’s happenings,” Mo Flava remarked.

DJ Fresh added, “Many broadcasters, especially those on drive shows, sometimes overlook their role. In the afternoon, listeners expect a recap of the day without feeling overwhelmed, yet many shows focus too much on themselves and neglect the audience’s needs.”
