Musician Makhadzi has shown her commitment to education by stepping up to support South African students facing financial barriers as tertiary institutions reopen. Many students are struggling to register due to insufficient funds, but Makhadzi, born Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona in Limpopo, has offered to cover the registration fees for 20 deserving students.
Taking to her Facebook page, she posted a heartfelt message inviting students to apply for assistance. She wrote:
“Are you a student having trouble registering for the 2025 academic year? I want to help 20 students by paying their registration fees. If you meet the criteria, please send your proof of acceptance along with a brief motivation explaining your situation. WhatsApp 076 238 2014. Remember, only 20 students will be selected, so act quickly!
Education is crucial for success, and I hope to help open doors. Let’s work together for a brighter future. #MakhadziCares #EducationForAll #GivingBack #RegisterForSuccess #Maarab”

Her post quickly gained traction, drawing in hundreds of hopeful students. Joyce Shirinda expressed urgency, stating she has only until the next day to register for her PhD and is feeling devastated. Lungi Malinga pleaded for help in getting Makhadzi’s attention, sharing that she had messaged as requested. Similarly, Sesona Tswane highlighted her financial struggles and the uncertainty surrounding her NSFAS application.
Makhadzi’s friend, Isaiah “Bumba” Letsoalo, confirmed the authenticity of the post. “I spoke with Makhadzi, and she assured me it’s real,” he stated.
Makhadzi later elaborated on her motivation, explaining that many students, despite excelling academically, face significant financial challenges. She understands these struggles firsthand and believes education is a vital instrument for change.
She explained, “By helping these students, I aim to ease their immediate burdens and inspire hope for their futures. Education should be a right, not a privilege, and I want to pave the way for a better tomorrow.”
Additionally, Makhadzi expressed her desire to create a legacy that encourages other artists to contribute to their local communities. She envisions a future where students can focus on their studies without the constant stress of financial constraints, knowing their community supports them.
Through this initiative, she also hopes to mentor the selected students, guiding them through the complexities of university life. “Together, we can build a brighter future not just for ourselves but for future generations,” she concluded.
