Ekhurhuleni Boksburg Hotel readies Macheso show

By Munashe Rungano

Preparations for sungura kingpin Alick Macheso’s show at the Ekhuruleni Boksburg hotel, scheduled for next week, are at an advanced stage.

The gig, which marks Ba Sharo’s first 2017 show on the South African turf has created hype among merrymakers as his last performance at the same venue in December last year left a mark; pulling record crowds.

The hotel’s events manager Dony Nikisi said they had done all the ground work to ensure a free flowing fun filed night when they host the Amai vaRubhi singer

“It’s a privilege always working with Macheso, who stands out as one of the top artistes in Zimbabwe. Just like the last time he was here we are expecting a full house and all the security logistics have been put in place to curb unforeseen circumstances,” said Nikisi.

“I urge all Zimbabweans based this side of the Limpopo to make way to the hotel and witness the event not to be missed as Macheso will be sampling some of his yet to be released songs from his forthcoming album.”

Echoing Nikisi’s words, through his publicist, Tich Makahamadze, Macheso said it was an honour to continuously maintain a good working relationship with the management of the Boksburg Hotel as business between them always yields best results.

Said Makahamadze: “As usual we are going to deliver our best in SA and we are glad the tour has come at a time we are finalising on the new album so all our fans must come and have a taste of the project live.”

He said Macheso will be travelling with his full Mberikwazvo outfit.

The show will see the sungura king also sharing the stage with urban grooves star Nox Guni. The Ndinonyara hitmaker, who is not new in performing alongside Macheso in SA, told Showbiz from his Johannesburg base that he was ready to usher merrymakers into a memorable night with a top class performance.

“It’s a toll order having to curtain raise for a legend like Macheso as fans will be on your neck to be in check with his (Macheso) standard. In that vein l have prepared a lot to assure fans will be thrilled. It’s a good thing l have a good working relationship with Ba Sharo on and off stage so fans must expect a cameo stage collabo with him,” said the talented vocalist.

Nox also said that he will be unveiling new material as a surprise to his fans urging them to come prepared as he extends his intentions to rebrand his music and penetrate the African market.
