Empower Your Future: Apply for WMF’s ETE Scholarships Today!

The-Wells-Mountain-Initiative

The Wells Mountain Foundation (WMF) offers undergraduate scholarships through its Empowerment Through Education (ETE) program, supporting students from developing nations.

This scholarship enables recipients to pursue higher education in their home country or a neighbouring developing country.

As part of the foundation’s commitment to community development, all scholarship recipients must complete a minimum of 100 hours of volunteer work annually.

Host Institution:

Students can enroll at any accredited university in their home country or another developing nation.

Eligible Fields of Study:

The scholarship applies to undergraduate programs in all academic disciplines. However, students pursuing degrees that benefit their communities receive preference:

  • Community Development
  • Law
  • Education
  • Social Work
  • Business
  • Information Technology
  • Agriculture
  • Engineering

Number of Scholarships Available:

50–60 students receive scholarships each year.

Who Can Apply?

This scholarship is open to citizens of developing countries who meet the eligibility criteria.

Scholarship Value & Duration:

The ETE scholarship provides financial support ranging from $300 to $3,000 per year, with an average award of $1,500. It covers tuition, fees, books, study materials, and essential living expenses such as accommodation and meals. The undergraduate program receives funding for its entire duration.

Eligibility Requirements:

Ideal candidates for the scholarship must:

  • Be 35 years old or younger as of August 1, 2025.
  • • They have completed or are in their final year of secondary education with a strong academic performance.
  • • They apply for or are currently enrolled in their first undergraduate degree.
  • Plan to study in their home country or another developing nation.
  • Commit to returning to their home country to contribute to its development after graduation.
  • Have prior volunteer experience and be willing to continue volunteering while studying.
  • Possess partial funding for their education but require financial assistance to complete their degree (this is a partial scholarship, not a full-ride award).

Application Process:

Applicants must submit a completed application through the online scholarship portal (preferred method) or via postal mail to the WMF office.

  • Application period: December 1, 2024–March 1, 2025
