Ezekiel MacDonald Chibvongodze, 29, a Marondera resident, was denied bail when he appeared before a Marondera court yesterday.
It is alleged that he killed his wife and his six-year-old boy by stabbing them repeatedly while they were sleeping. Chibvongodze attempted to commit suicide after the incident on Sunday but failed.
This emerged when he appeared before Marondera Regional Magistrate Mr. Panashe Matongo, facing murder charges. He was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to August 6.
According to the allegations, Chibvongodze was bitter as he suspected his wife, Mitchel Evelyn Katakwe, of having an extramarital affair. The court heard that driven by his suspicions, Chibvongodze bought an Okapi knife in Marondera town before proceeding home.
