SOUTH AFRICAN Zimdancehall female singer, X-patriot, real name is Lucy Makovere, has engaged the services of Jamaican chanter, Jah Wariyah, in a song titled Gimmie mi luv.
The song, which was done in English and Patois has taken the music industry by storm. In an interview with Showbiz, Xpatriot’s manager Dyson Chirenje, said he believes the song will win hearts of many in Zimbabwe and the region.
“I am confident this song will take Xpatriot to another level and I believe the song will get an overwhelming response in the genre, which is appealing to the young generation.
“The song is in Patois and English to accommodate a wide range of music lovers. It’s a love song, which urges people to respect each other and try to be united during these trying times,” he said.
Similarly, Xpatriot echoed the same sentiments and appeared confident with her work.
“I am working on my debut album so that I stay relevant in the music circles. Messages from my songs resonate with the day to day life experience of people in our beloved country.
“This year is my year and I am working on more entertaining stuff. I am also eyeing accolades as I am now in music full time after completing my studies in South Africa,” she said.
The song was recorded and produced by Cool Bells, who is also based in South Africa.
