A Bulawayo Form 4 student has ended her life after the partner rejected her pregnancy.
At Nketa High School in Bulawayo, a heartbreaking incident happened when a female student—whose name has not been revealed—traumatized herself by taking her own life after receiving rejection about her pregnancy from her lover. In a somber ceremony attended by friends, family, and community members, the Form Four student was buried on Monday.
According to reports, the girl went to her boyfriend, an upper-six student at the same university, for help after learning she was pregnant. Regretfully, it is said that he disclaimed any responsibility for the pregnancy, which greatly distressed her and eventually made her consider suicide. She went to her boyfriend’s house on July 12; later that day, her aunt discovered her and returned her to their home.
People believe that she attempted to contact her boyfriend about their pregnancy once more. Her boyfriend appears to have remained steadfast in his decision to deny the pregnancy, based on her return’s attitude. This exacerbated the girl’s feelings of hopelessness and suicidal thoughts.

Despite her aunt’s efforts to intervene, the girl took her own life by hanging herself. Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident, although initial police reports did not mention the pregnancy.
According to the police, the girl had left home under the pretense of attending extra lessons but was later seen entering her boyfriend’s home. Concerned by her absence, her aunt discovered her hanging from a guava tree in their yard. Despite the prompt arrival of emergency services, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
