The Utrecht Excellence Scholarship provides an opportunity for outstanding international students from non-EEA countries to pursue a Master’s degree at Utrecht University in select academic programs.

Scholarship Benefits and Duration:
The scholarship may cover:
- Tuition fees, or
- Tuition fees along with the income required for obtaining a Dutch residence permit for study purposes, as determined by the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND).
The scholarship is awarded for the standard duration of the program. For two-year Master’s programs, it can be extended into the second year.
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be ranked in the top 10% of their graduating class.
- Hold citizenship from a non-EU/EEA country and be ineligible for support under the Dutch study grant and loan system.
- Have completed secondary school and/or a bachelor’s degree outside the Netherlands.
- Apply for an eligible Master’s program at Utrecht University with a start date of 1 September 2025.
Application Process:
After applying for one or more eligible Master’s programs, candidates from non-EU/EEA countries can submit an application for the Utrecht Excellence Scholarship starting 1 November 2024. This option will be available via the OSIRIS Online Application portal.
Applications for the scholarship must be submitted by 1 February 2025, 23:59 CET. Late applications will not be accepted.
