Gates Cambridge Scholarships for International Students 2024-2025
The Gates Cambridge Scholarships stand as one of the world’s most esteemed international scholarships. These scholarships are granted to exceptional applicants from countries outside the UK, enabling them to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree in any available subject at the University of Cambridge.

Number of Awards: Approximately 80 scholarships are conferred annually.

Scholarship Value/Inclusions: A Gates Cambridge Scholarship covers the entire cost of studying at Cambridge, including tuition fees, maintenance allowance (£20,000 for 12 months at the 2023-24 rate; pro rata for courses shorter than 12 months, and up to 4 years for PhD scholars), one economy single airfare at the start and end of the course, inbound visa costs, and the Immigration Health Surcharge. Additional discretionary funding is also provided for academic development, family allowance, fieldwork, etc.
Eligibility: You are eligible to apply for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship if you are:
- A citizen of any country outside the United Kingdom.
- Applying for one of the following full-time residential courses: PhD (full-time or part-time*), MSc or MLitt (full-time), or a one-year full-time postgraduate course (with some exceptions).
For October 2024 entry, Gates Cambridge is testing a scheme allowing applicants to seek funding for a part-time doctoral degree.

Application Instructions: Applicants must submit their application for admission and funding (Gates Cambridge and other funding) via the University’s Graduate Application Portal. To be considered for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship, applicants must complete the admission and funding sections. There are two application deadlines: 11 October 2023 (for US citizens resident in the USA) and either 5 December 2023 or 4 January 2024, depending on the course.
