Gonyeti and the Trailers was the name that Glee Bafana gave her dance group back in the day and male patrons loved not the name; but the ‘trailers’; that of course from a pervert’s vantage depicting voluptuous behinds of female dancers.
That Bafana’s structure was befitting to the name won her many hearts.
Comes in Pamela Zulu who was immediately nicknamed Gonyeti when she joined Jah Prayzah’s Third generation band replacing another energetic dancer Generator.
Gonyeti has recently followed suit and started her own outfit which she astoundingly named The Horses.
For those that have knowledge of the trucking business, horses would also be befitting for it literally refers to what street lingo called gonyeti.
It would be premature at this juncture to assume Gonyeti engaged her doppelganger.
Yet although what she had in mind is yet to be revealed, her choice of name has become the talk of town.
Gonyeti who performs at Mutangadura along Beatrice Road on Saturday told Showbiz Thursday that she formed the outfit just two weeks ago.
She said she had engaged a number of well know characters to back her although refusing to divulge names.
Asked if she expected instant fame she said: “NaJesu zvinoita. (With Jesus it will work out).
Gonyeti also revealed that she had tried to engage Jah Prayzah’s former manager Fildah Muchabayiwa but she had been rebuffed.
Contacted for comment Muchabaiwa who has featured in Mabla 10 comedies as Mai Shinda initially said she was too bitter continue managing musicians.
“Ndosvika kupi? (Where will this get me?) I raised Andy Muridzo, I raised Jah Prayzah but I have nothing to show for it,” she said.

She has accepted to assist Gonyeti after initially shutting her out
“I never got rewarded for where I took Jah Prayzah. I took him from the ground.”
She however said in the spirit of her charity organisation Divine Mercy which assists the girl child she would help Gonyeti find her footing on the music scene.
“I will not forsake her. Just like Jah Prayzah she is my child so I will help her but what I did not want is to appear as if I am the one that influenced her to leave the band,” she said.
