The government of Zimbabwe has given food assistance to more than 670 people in Mudzi, Zimbabwe’s Ward 11. At Nyaugugu Primary School, the Honourable Senator Munzverengwi, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, presented the aid.
Due to the extreme drought, these family have been struggling; to get them through this difficult period, they were given a three-month supply of grain.
The government is distributing food as part of its commitment to assist those impacted by the drought. The families expressed their gratitude for the relief they had been given.

One beneficiary said, “We’ve been having a hard time since the drought began, and this aid has come at a crucial moment for us.”
The aid is also expected to help local economies because the families will be able to use the money they save to buy other necessary items.
Locals have praised the government’s quick response to the crisis. Another beneficiary said, “We appreciate the government’s fast action. This aid has given us hope that things will get better soon.”
The government is addressing the drought situation in a number of ways, including the delivery of food. To help crops survive longer, other initiatives include supplying irrigation equipment and teaching farmers about conservation agriculture.
