The Harare Magistrates’ Court fined a Harare woman $300 for threatening her boss with a tortoise over unpaid wages.
The court heard an appearance from Sithembiso Budzirikawa (58), who was accused of violating the Wildlife Act.
The court was informed that on August 21, 2024, Budzirikawa claimed her unpaid wages at her place of employment by bringing a live tortoise from the Chabwino farm in Goromonzi.
When Budzirikawa learned she would not be getting the money, she threatened to use the tortoise to collect her money from the HR Manager.
The tortoise was wrapped in a red piece of cloth that had needles knotted around it and was completely covered in red floor polish.
