Jamaican dancehall icon Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, fell ill while enjoying a night out at a popular Kingston nightclub on Monday, raising concerns among fans about his health. Shortly after the incident, sources close to the artist reassured the Jamaican Observer that he was “doing fine.”
Footage circulating on social media shows Kartel being helped out of the club, intensifying worries about his well-being, especially given his diagnosis of Graves’ disease. In the viral videos, the club’s DJ is heard asking patrons in the upper section to create space for the artist. At one point, Kartel was seen sitting on the railing while fans tried to cool him down with rags.
Reports indicate that Kartel experienced breathing difficulties during his performance at Meca Nightclub, where he was accompanied by his wife, Sidem. He had to pause the show to request that the audience step back due to the intense heat and his struggle to breathe.
