History was made at Theatre in the Park, Harare Thursday evening as for the first time, a local novel, Harvest of Thorns written by Shimmer Chinodya was adapted into a play titled Harvest of Thorns Classic.
Though the cast did not stage the full play but just close to an hour long excerpt, they got the whole auditorium laughing out loud throughout the entire show.
As the intriguing love story of Shaniso and Clopas begins to unfold, not only does the audience begin to see how long distance relationships were like back in the 60’s but also how patient folks back in the day were as they waited for their lovers to return and only communicated via letters.
The play also explores how difficult life was for the black folks working in urban areas as they were closely monitored by the white elite resulting in serious retribution.
Other issues like bullying are also exposed as having been part for the school system for a long time.
