Musician Jah Prayzah has perfected the art of collaboration; well both on and off the stage as evidenced by the latest deals he has with cooking oil producer Surface Wilmar through their brand Pure Drop.
Apart from all the branding and tickets sales partnerships, the musician has clinched yet another deal with the organisation that will see his latest album being sold in every corner of the country hours after the launch on August 11.
According to Jive Zimbabwe boss Benjie Nyandoro who is handling the marketing of the album Mdhara Vachauya the musician has also partnered with furniture manufacturer Coloursel.
“All Coloursel shops across the country will serve as both retail outlets as well as wholesalers. We encourage retailers to start bookings now and make payment plans if they are not able to pay for all their merchandise at once. They can stagger their payment which will give them an advantage if they would want the CDs on credit,” Nyandoro told Showbiz at the weekend.
“On the night of the launch we have facilitated that retailers can collect the CDs from the respective Coloursel shops across the country for $0.75 each so that early the next day they can start selling. Even if they fail to pay the full amount when they had a payment plan we will have confidence in them.”
Nyandoro said they have also ensured that CDs will not run out through having an in-house production and manufacturing mechanism.
“We will never run out of CDs, we have an in-house production and manufacturing facility. We have confirmed 35 retail stores so far and we are planning to multiply to more than 100 by the time of the launch at strategic retail stores among them PicknPay, TM, OK Supermarkets, Bon Marche and N Richards stores,” Nyandoro said.
He said they have also tried to beat piracy by pegging the retail price of the CD at just $1 per copy.
He also appealed to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) to deal with piracy decisively.
“We appeal to the ZRP to treat piracy the same way they treat the issue of mbanje. We cannot let mbanje be sold the same way Pacific Storm. We are grateful for the effort this far but we however submit it is not enough,” Nyandoro said.
“We also encourage the public to buy original CDs as we have made sure the disk will be readily available wherever you are at an affordable price. We have a team of 100 people that will be joining the Road Trip in every town along the way to Bulawayo selling the CDs at $1.”
Jah Prayzah will launch his forthcoming album in Harare and Bulawayo on August 12 and 13 respectively with thousands of fans expected to join him for the road trip from the capital to the country’s second largest city on the 13th.
Jah Prayzah is expected to leave the country tonight for South Africa where he will shoot the video for his collaboration Tora Mari with Tanzanian Diamond.
He leaves aboard a South African Airway flight at 7pm and is scheduled to head to the United States on Wednesday before proceeding to Canada on August 2.
