Jah Prayzah & Killer T resume rivalry
By Own Correspondent
As was the case last year with their albums Ngoma Ndaimba and Jerusarema which carried hit tracks that became anthems throughout 2015, Jah Prayzah and Killer T resume their rivalry in 2016 with their brand new offerings.
Jah Prayzah dropped his new album Mudhara Vachauya last week Friday at the Harare International Conference Centre and instantaneously the track which features Tanzanian star, Diamond Platnumz, Watora Mari has become a favourite for many.
However, a month earlier dancehall chanter, Killer T, had dropped a fresh single titled Takangodaro which has become an anthem among many ghetto youths and is being played in most pubs, bars and commuter omnibuses.
Sadly, for the Chikorobho hit maker, he only has one track to face-off with ‘Mudhara Jah’ who has 11 fresh 11 tracks that have the potential of blowing him up to untouchable levels if the frenzy around the album does not fizzle in the coming days.
But, it’s not all gloomy for Killer T. His single comes loaded with some emotion evoking lyrics that resonate with the masses across the social strata. That was the strength of his 2015 album and he seems to have rediscovered his writing prowess after he had released some singles earlier in the year that amounted to nothing.
Jah Prayzah’s track Watora Mari is a bit more on the bubblegum side. It’s that type of track which can easily be forgotten but its main strength is the hook factor. The lyrics though not hard-hitting are catchy, making it that track you can put on repeat the whole day.
Two more factors which make this battle skewed to Jah’s favour are that he collaborated with an African icon and also they put out a great video which make audience anxious to click more and watch than just press play to listen.
Hence, he has the best of both worlds, visual and audio.
Overall it seems we are in for yet another interesting summer and we to see who will rise and dominate.
