A children learning education company,Jolly Phonics Zimbabwe will this Saturday hold its annual conference where parents,teachers and individuals will interface with its different products .
Addressing a press conference on Thursday,Jolly Phonics trainer (Zimbabwe and United Kingdom),Shingi Benyu said their products namely Jolly Phonics,Jolly Grammar and Jolly Music have been gaining momentum among some schools and parents.
“The reception of Jolly Phonics has absolutely been good .We have loads and loads of schools that now use Jolly Phonics.People like it because it is very simple and I think they also like it because we are around.
“Its different from having a product introduced by someone lets say from Australia ,with us we are physical and we are able to reach out to them updating them on the products we will be having ,”she said.
“Jolly Phonics can be taught from ECD way up to Grade 7 .We also have some students who are in Form 1 and Form 2 who also come to learn Jolly Grammar
“There are also parents who are home-schooling their children whom we also train in our programmes,”added Benyu.
She says while they work mainly with private schools some government and mission schools are now warming up to using Jolly Phonics .
According to renowned Jolly Phonics trainer ,UK and Spain ,Coral George ,Jolly Phonics can make teaching in vernacular languages easy.
“The good thing about Jolly Phonics is that besides training children to be good in writing and speaking English they will also be able to reciprocate the same in their native languages,”she said.
She also said they have developed a mobile app ,Jolly Classroom,which is currently on trial and is free .
The other speakers for the conference to be held at Colne Valley Nature Reserve,Head of School ,Bee’s Study Group,Belinda Riley and Director of Communications and Advocacy ,Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
