President Mnangagwa has reappointed Justice Priscilla Chigumba as the Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) for an additional six-year term, in accordance with Section 238(5) of the Constitution.
This reappointment is effective from February 1.

Dr. Martin Rushwaya, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, communicated this decision to Justice Chigumba in a letter, stating that the President has reappointed her for the next six years, starting from February 1, 2024.
“I am pleased to advise that His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe Cde. E.D. Mnangagwa has, in terms of Section 238(5) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe (No. 20) Act 2013 re-appointed you as the Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission for a period of six years with effect from 1 February 2024,” he said.

Justice Chigumba, with a law degree from the United Kingdom, has a diverse legal background, including practicing law, corporate work, and serving as a magistrate.
She became a Justice of the High Court in December 2012.
