A tragic road traffic accident on Thursday, October 31, claimed the lives of five individuals and left six others injured. The incident occurred around 5:10 AM on the Harare-Bulawayo Road, near the Kuwadzana 7 turn-off at the intersection of First Street and Bulawayo Road in Harare.
According to Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, a Toyota Hiace kombi, which was transporting an unspecified number of passengers, collided with an empty fuel tanker. Commissioner Nyathi noted:
“The kombi made a right turn into Bulawayo Road directly in front of the approaching fuel tanker.”
The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital’s mortuary for post-mortem examinations, while the injured individuals are receiving treatment at the same facility.

As of now, the identities of the five victims have not been confirmed by their families. Commissioner Nyathi mentioned that more information about the accident will be released as authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
He urged drivers to follow road safety regulations and to avoid speeding to help reduce the likelihood of such accidents.
