Lacere Masese, an 18-year-old student from Manunure High School in Mbizo, Kwekwe, tragically passed away on the same day the ZIMSEC A-Level results were made public.
Masese, who had recently been diagnosed with blood cancer at Kwekwe General Hospital, had achieved 15 points in his exams, excelling in Computer Science, Pure Mathematics, and Business Studies, securing As in each subject.
His remarkable academic achievements were also reflected in his O-Level results. Masese was laid to rest on the very day his A-Level results were released.
In other news, A 21-year-old Shurugwi man has been sentenced to four years in prison for kidnapping and indecently assaulting a minor.
The man appeared before the Shurungwi Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard that on December 24 last year, the three-year-old victim and other children were playing when the accused person came and took her away.
The man detained the minor for about 30 minutes. The complainant’s father heard that the accused had taken his daughter and made a follow-up.
The victim’s father found his daughter standing naked, wearing the accused’s necklace. The accused escaped, leaving his cell phone behind.
The matter was reported to the police, leading to the accused person’s arrest.
