Manchester United secured a thrilling 4-3 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers, with Marcus Rashford opening the scoring and Kobbie Mainoo netting a late winner at Molineux on Thursday.
Rashford, who was left out of United’s previous cup match, scored the first goal in the fifth minute, and he assisted Luke Shaw in setting up Rasmus Hojlund for the second in the 22nd minute. Despite a dominant first-half display, Man United had goals ruled out for offside.
In the second half, Wolves were awarded a penalty after Pedro Neto went down under a challenge from Casemiro. Video replays showed minimal contact, but the decision stood, and substitute Pablo Sarabia converted the spot kick in the 71st minute.
Scott McTominay extended Man United’s lead in the 75th minute, but Wolves fought back, with Max Kilman reducing the deficit in the 85th minute. Neto leveled in stoppage time with an excellent effort, but Mainoo secured the win with a curling shot in the 97th minute.
The victory moved United up to seventh in the Premier League table with 35 points, while Wolves are in 11th place with 29 points.
Mainoo expressed his joy after scoring his first Premier League goal, describing it as a dream come true. United captain Bruno Fernandes praised the 18-year-old’s cool finish, highlighting his talent.
