Liverpool based designer up for Beffta

United Kingdom based Taya Mahachi has been nominated for a Beffta Award in the fashion designing category.
Taya also known as Tayamika told Showbiz Tuesday that she was on cloud nine.
She said she felt humbled by the acknowledgement of her work.
“I am truly humbled by the nomination for a Beffta award. The Befftas are such a huge event so many people from the film, fashion, television and arts are in attendance every year,” said Taya.
“It’s a great opportunity to be exposed to a great audience and network with some very talented people.”
Taya said for her it was more about taking part and not necessarily winning the award.
“For me it’s not about winning but the taking part and acknowledgement l have received. I am grateful to all that nominated me and appreciate my work,” she said.
“There is a great line up of designers that have been nominated. I know a few of the designers on the list. What’s really great is that there is four UK based Zimbabwean designers that have been nominated including RAAAH, Le Khaya and Yvonne Yvette.”
Voting is currently open until October 16 before the winners are eventually announced on October 27.
Taya said she was working on two projects that she would divulge at a later stage.
