Luke Shaw, a defender for Manchester United, will miss the first three games of the season due to a new physical setback, the Premier League leaders confirmed on Tuesday.
Due to a calf issue, the England full-back will be sidelined until the international break that takes place in May, according to United.
Shaw will now miss United’s trip to Brighton and their home Premier League matches against Fulham and Liverpool.
The 29-year-old may now also be questionable for England’s Nations League opening games next month against Finland and the Republic of Ireland, which will be the team’s first games under new interim manager Lee Carsley.

“Luke Shaw will miss the opening games of the Premier League season due to a calf injury sustained at the start of pre-season training,” a statement from Manchester United stated.
“He is working hard on his rehabilitation with a view to being available after the first international break.”
Despite having a hamstring injury when he traveled to Germany, Shaw was included in England’s Euro 2024 squad and was unable to play until the quarterfinal match against Switzerland.
His only tournament debut came in the final, as England lost 2-1 to Spain in Berlin, extending their wait to 58 years for their first major men’s football title since winning the 1966 World Cup on home soil.
