A 20-year-old man alleged to be a prophet, accused of rape by a 17-year-old woman he met on a WhatsApp prayer group, was found not guilty by a Harare magistrate.
Leeroy Musa, represented by his lawyer Shepherd Makonde, appeared before Harare magistrate Fadzai Mtombeni charged with rape.
Musa proved his innocence arguing that the complainant had fabricated the charges in an attempt to extort money from him. When the extortion failed, she resorted to false accusations.
In her ruling Magistrate Mtombeni said the complainant did not tell the truth after stating that she only visited the accused person once and yet she visited him several times.

The State failed to prove that on the 14th of July this year, around 1400hrs the complainant went to Musa’s place of residence to collect her anointing pen as the accused is a prophet.
When the complainant arrived at Musa’s place of residence, before she entered his room she was offered anointing water to drink, and she drank it.
When she was told to enter she was feeling dizzy and she was told to sit on the bed.
Accused then locked the door and sat beside her on the bed and he told complainant that he likes her.
Musa allegedly made the complainant to lie down as she was on the bed feeling weak, he then unzipped his trousers, he removed the complainant’s skirt and forcibly removed her panties.
The accused had s_exual intercourse with her without her consent.
