MAKHADZI DELAYED FOR JAMAFRO . . . Advance team expected today

Makhadzi wins international award

JAMAFRO Music Festival’s headline act, Makhadzi, is expected in the country tomorrow morning.

Her advance team is expected in the country today ahead of the potentially-explosive musical fete, event organisers said.

Speaking to H-Metro last night, event coordinator – Boniface “Negos” Jana – confirmed the developments but assured fans everything was under control.

“She (Makhadzi) is arriving on Saturday morning but her team is coming tomorrow (today) ahead of the festival,” said Negos.

H-Metro is reliably informed Makhadzi has a commitment tonight in Pretoria and she will catch an early morning flight to Harare tomorrow.

She will conduct a couple of radio and television interviews.

As of Wednesday afternoon, two foreign acts – Jamaican dancehall princess Neelah and Zimbabwe born music producer-cum-singer, Mr Brown – had already arrived.

On the local front, there are no changes on the line-up led by Suluman Chimbetu, Freeman and Nutty O.

Rapper ExQ, versatile diva Feli Nandi, Juntal, Jah Master, Etherton Beenie, Westhood Sound, Selekta Base, Banso, are also part of the bill.

Events coordinators, Boniface Jana of Negos Entertainment and Lurther Pazvakavambwa of Digital One Studios, told H-Metro everything was well in place.

“We have already put everything in place in terms of logistics.

“Already, Neelah is in town and she has been giving a couple of interviews while Mr Brown has also arrived.

“The local guys are ready for the show and they have been helping us to sell our tickets,” he said.

Pazvakavambwa urged fans to purchase advance tickets on time to avoid the last-minute rush.

“We simply urge people to abide by the Covid-19 regulations and buy their advance tickets to avoid the last-minute rush.

“It’s great to be back home promoting our brothers and sisters.

“Preparation-wise, everything is on course and we are looking forward to a great festival,” he said.

Initially, the show was pencilled for December 18 last year, at the same venue, but was postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Jana and Pazvakavambwa said plans were underway to hold the same event in Jamaica.

“After the Harare leg, we will start making logistics to hold the same event in Jamaica, preferably Montego Bay.

“As a music promotions company and recording label, our quest is to give African artists exposure, especially Zimbabweans who badly need it,” he said.
