Yesterday, Munyaradzi Antony Mwedziwendira (30) was convicted for assaulting Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Tongai Mnangagwa and Wellington Vengesai during a dispute over a parking space.
Appearing before Harare magistrate Mrs Appollonia Marutya, Mwedziwendira pleaded guilty to two counts of assault and will return to court on Monday for sentencing.
The incident occurred on Tuesday around 10:15pm, as Deputy Minister Mnangagwa and Handson Gapa left Mr. Vengesai’s apartment at Trude Mansions.
Mwedziwendira confronted them, complaining about blocked parking spaces, and physically assaulted them. Despite threats to shoot, no firearm was produced, and Mwedziwendira fled the scene.
Additionally, Mwedziwendira and his employee, Jasper Cephas Kuziva, faced charges related to unlawful possession of drugs and medicines. Following a report of their drug dealing, detectives discovered four vehicles allegedly containing drugs. Despite attempts to flee, both accused were arrested, leading to the recovery of various drugs and medicines with a street value of $825,000.
The seized drugs and vehicles are being held as evidence.
